SSH key update for ~brennan
by brennan＠envs.net 02 Oct '26

02 Oct '26

Hello envs.net admins, I registered an account (username: brennan) but I've lost access to the SSH key I supplied during registration. Could you please update my account to use this public key instead? ssh-ed25519 AAAAC3NzaC1lZDI1NTE5AAAAIGe/Bq/IFGbxdVOcf0l7jLHIbHilVLljMdkm10C2ownl mail(a)brennanbrown.ca If it's useful to have a second key on file, this one is also mine: ssh-ed25519 AAAAC3NzaC1lZDI1NTE5AAAAIAYU6lvu3nmR49iW0mK/Lrqs4P02ouw2wZq1Sa5LkU2v brennan(a)omg.lol Thanks very much, and I'm sorry for the hassle! Brennan

Thanks for creating my account!
by liv＠envs.net 04 Jul '26

04 Jul '26

Dear envs team, Thank you for creating my account! I am actually trying to create a really simple posix shell script for generating blogs, I will post some blogs and share the script on envs server when it's done. Will you consider generating an onion domain, where users can share contents in a more private way along side with gemini, gopher, and html? By the way, one of the reason I join envs is that there is gopher preconfigured, I am learning to put up gopher sites, please keep it up:) Best, Liv

I have an idea about a completely user-driven Envs wiki!
by Lambros Vyssoulis 15 Jun '26

15 Jun '26

I was thinking about random things that could be hosted by Envs, and I had the idea of a wiki that anyone can edit and create pages in. To battle spam, it is possible that Anubis (a bot blocking system) could be used. It would not be like help.envs.net, but like a mini-Wikipedia but for Envs! The server software could be Wiki.Js for something light or MediaWiki for the best experience. I do not know how to finish this, ~lvyss

Solution for GPG with Mutt and "abook" from the envs.net shell
by ~dan 11 Feb '26

11 Feb '26

Hello envs pubnixers, I've created a solution for fetching GPG/OpenGPG keys from WKD or the hkps://keys.openpgp.org keyserver from within Mutt with two macros using the "abook" address book TUI program. It's still a little complicated to set up but it *should* work if set up correctly. Maybe I'll create a script to automatically set it all up automatically, if there is real interest. With the new macros and a little script, you should be able to add a new address from an email with the '<SHIFT>+a' key and refresh/add new public GPG keys from addresses in the address book with the '<CTRL>+k' key. You can then query the address book with '<SHIFT>+q' in Mutt or by pressing '<TAB>' in NeoMutt when asked for an address. You can also send email directly out of the "abook" TUI with the 'm' key. The GPG menu can be accessed with the 'p' key in the composer of (Neo)Mutt. If GnuPG is set up correctly (description in the README.md file of the repo), you should be able to sign/encrypt/decrypt/verify from inside Mutt in the envs shell. There is also a description for setting up NeoMutt, which I'm using locally at home. You can find the git repository with further explanations on how to set it up here: https://git.envs.net/dan/mutt-abook-gpg Remember that the envs.net shell uses "abook v0.6.1", so you have to source the '~/.abook/abook-before-v0.6.2.mutt.rc' file in your '~/.muttrc'. You can see my full '~/.muttrc' here: https://paste.rs/37cEM.sh I would be happy, if you would try it out and give some feedback. Please give information, when there are problems, if something is unclear or about anything concerning this little project. Make sure, you read and fully understand the whole explanations in the README.md file. If something is unclear, answer to this post on the mailing list, send a private email to me or open an issue on the repository. Happy hacking! ~dan -- envs.net XMPP JID: dan(a)envs.net envs.net web site: https://dan.envs.net/ envs.net gopher site: gopher://envs.net/1/~dan/ My GnuPG/OpenPGP key is available through WKD on envs.net
