hello everybody,
while experimenting with mail.envs.net webmail, i've noticed an issue
with how the MIME header key shows up in the Sent folder.
the culprit: From nobody Mon Jan 17 06:28:28 2022
ths sample does not cause issues: From: "akspecs" <akspecs(a)envs.net>
which both aerc and mutt do correctly, which leads me to believe this is
simply due to the missing :
full sample paste with header:
https://paste.sr.ht/~akspecs/b3591b138436869dd0a94292b5bff70ce5a66f2f
this casues the aerc terminal mail client to be unable to load many
messages in the Sent folder, whether or not their MIME header key is
malformed or not. newer versions of aerc do not workaround this issue
either.
to reproduce this issue:
1) send an email using webmail (Modoboa) on mail.envs.net
2) try viewing that sent message with aerc
deleting any messages in the Sent folder sent via webmail with the
malformed MIME header key and emptying the trash folder via the webmail
interface is not enough to actually purge those messages. i was able to
purge the messages with mutt, after which aerc loads the Sent folder
just fine, as long as other messages with a malformed header key aren't
present.
is this an issue with Modoboa / Postfix / Dovecot / other mta
configuration? or can i configure something locally / via the webmail
interface to workaround this issue to ensure that MIME header keys
aren't malformed went sent via webmail?
the following patch was rejected to go-message which attempted to
workaround MIME header keys being malformed:
https://github.com/emersion/go-message/pull/101
thanks,
akspecs
hello envs o/
today i change our irc ident system service from ident2 to oident.
to make it work in your local irc client you have to do the following in
your user home:
```
# remove the old ident file
rm ~/.ident
# create the new oident file
touch ~/.oidentd.conf
# give the new file the right perms.
chmod 644 ~/.oidentd.conf
```
that's it.
have a nice week!

hello dear envs user (again)
FYI:
I got a hint today that in our service "thelounge" (webirc.envs.net)
history logs are visible.
I checked how thelounge stores the log files and see that all users on
the system can view them.
after that i disabled logging globally and removed all userlogs completely.

Dear envs user
FYI: weechat (the default irc client on envs) enabled logging per
default! Please disable it! all users on the server can read your logs
in `~/.weechat/logs/`!
in your client you can typ:
/set logger.file.auto_log off
/set irc.server_default.msg_part ""
/set irc.server_default.msg_quit ""
/set irc.ctcp.clientinfo ""
/set irc.ctcp.finger ""
/set irc.ctcp.source ""
/set irc.ctcp.time ""
/set irc.ctcp.userinfo ""
/set irc.ctcp.version ""
/set irc.ctcp.ping ""
/save
i disable weechat logging for new users in `/etc/skel/`
https://git.envs.net/envs/skel/commit/11ec09cfa71367ec423771a65e4039f1236d1…
even though everyone is responsible for their own account, I'm sorry I
didn't realize it until today.

While replying to a mail on mailling list sir(a)cmpwn.com was on the To:
list. But the mail failed to deliver for sir(a)cmpwn.com
Is this a issue on mail delevery system or mail.envs.net has been
blocked.
I already sent a mail to postmaster(a)envs.net
hello,
i have updated some default weechat plugins (python and perl) in our
/etc/skel/.weechat directory.
your weechat config including plugins is in your home directory and has
to be updated by yourself.
unfortunately I have no solution to update these default plugins for
everyone because I don't want to touch your user directories.
